WordPress appears to have turned the quotes in your addEngine() into “smart” quotes, which wasn’t especially smart of it what with the way it completely breaks adding the plugin.
Ergh. Bad WordPress. Alright, I got rid of the WordPress page and replaced it with a link to a simple static HTML page. Enjoy the plugin.
Enjoying it in several ways, already. I use my last name as a first test term whenever I’m testing search, since I know roughly what should be returned, but I hadn’t quite noticed that Google’s second-favorite result is me ripping the original Japanese version of competitor MSN Spaces a new one, while Yahoo!’s second-favorite is me being amazed that competitor Blogger could actually change, or ship anything, or not look awful and dated. Just algo coincidence, but without seeing them side-by-side I hadn’t noticed the funny choices.
I also hadn’t ever installed a search plugin without an image, which lets a couple of buggy bits of left-over Seamonkey code show through, using the old “search in this page” magnifying glass when it’s selected, and showing a toggling checkmark each time you click on it in the dropdown (not properly toggling as you select it and then another one, even, just each time you select that one). Now to decide whether I can safely report those bugs, without risking having them assigned to me 🙂
good idea, but i had already created somthing like this. You can search up to 4 different search engines. There are 15 different search engines you can search from (more to come) the site is http://rjnsmith.com I hope this will be usefull to everyone! Just recentally, i have added IMAGE search, NEWS search and INFO search. You can choose any 4 search engines and the screen will divide your browser into 4 windows displaying each of the search engine results.
