&lt;p&gt;This seems to work but since my image is a Windows XP install, resizing like that didn&#039;t work for me.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I resized my image, that worked OK but I think the mbr inside the image was messed up and qemu wouldn&#039;t boot it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you have an idea on how to o this for a WinXP image could you please tell me.&lt;/p&gt;

1. Add to file size as directed in article.
2. Use qtparted to resize partition
3. Boot with w98 resscue floppy
