After seeing this on Jeff’s blog, I decided to take the test myself and got pretty similar results, which I guess is not too surprising since Jeff is originally from New Hampshire and I’m originally from New York and we both now live in the Silicon Valley of California.

i got something similar and english is not my first language:
70% General American English
20% Yankee
5% Dixie
0% Midwestern
0% Upper Midwestern
Yeah, apparently you speak a purer form of English, since you learned it from more formal channels. And I guess you got yankee from Rochester.
In what is the most unsurprising, un-Earth-shattering, dullest news of the day (I hesitate to even call it news) — my score was 100% identical to yours. What a shocker.
Apparently I’m 25% country and only 15% rock-n-roll. In other’s words, too many y’alls and not enough you’ins.
So where’s the category for western? You can’t tell me they don’t speak another language out here.
Interesting test. I’m:
60% General American English
30% Dixie
5% Yankee
0% Midwestern
0% Upper Midwestern.
Guess that mean’s I’m country. The test seems accurate b/c I’m from the South.
Like Ken said, “where’s the category for western?”
