Sony KDL-46V25L1 LCD HDTV @ Costco

Dropped by Costco this evening and noticed that Costco is carrying a new Sony 46″ LCD HDTV, the KDL-46V25L1. A few weeks ago we had given up finding an HDTV because we couldn’t find one that had everything we wanted, but this new one just about fits the bill, except that it’s 46″ and we’re thinking that a 40″ would work better because of our small living room and because of the fact that we still watch a fair amount of SD material.

I went to go check out what people were saying on avsforum and found this great thread on the Sony 40″ KDL-40V2500 and 46″ KDL-46V2500. It looks promising:

  • 1080p LCD
  • HDMI
  • swivel stand
  • matte black frame; not the shiny piano black that some other models have, which is overly reflective
  • can plug a PC in via HDMI and get 1080p with 1:1 pixel mapping and no overscan

Update 2007-01-16: We bought a Sony KDL-40V2500 a few weeks ago from Best Buy and we love it!

The KDL-46V25L1 is apparently the Costco-specific version of the new KDL-46V2500. Do you remember what Costco’s price was for it?

A GREAT BUY.THE SPECIFICATION PAGE HAS: HDMI: VIDEO: 480I, 480P, 720P, 1080I, 1080P. THE EMBLEM ON THE FRONT ONLY SAYS 1080. SO YOU GUESS. VERNON

I saw it at BJs tonight and it was 2899. Does anyone know the difference between the 46V25L1 and the 46V 2500?

At a local appliance store, I was offered $1799 for the 40″ model. The 46 is much higher, around $2800. I am also watching a few on eBay (46V25L1) for, get this – $800! However, Intl. only warranty. Any feedback on the diff. between 46V25L1 and 46V2500?

Picked up mine at BJs last night. Went to register it and the Sony registration page doesn’t list it. Should it be registered as the 2500 because I think that is what the true model number is.

I just saw this at a Costco in Toronto. With a manufacturer’s discount, it was $1949 Canadian. The Canadian dollar this week is slightly over par with US. Sounds like a good price but the model is almost a year old. Any comments or words of warning?

Mary I am thinking of getting it for that price from a year ago it is a savings of $1300.00. I have not seen any bad reviews as of yet. Anyone have any comments that has had one for the last year or so…..
