We started doing yoga recently at the YMCA. We did it three times and had three different teachers and monotonically increasing difficulty. The last workout was actually difficult enough to be discouraging – the instructor said the routine was a combination of yoga and martial arts. Whatever it was, it kicked my butt.

  1. Don’t be discouraged. Maybe try a different instructor – their styles might differ quite a bit. (I can recommend mine, if you’re interested.) And I promise you, if you stick with it for a couple of months it will become easier and significantly more fun. It is also a very important component of your overall fitness program, because it improves balance and flexibility, which helps you to avoid injuries, and exercises hard to reach muscles.
