Thanks — your info was useful but I still have a question. How do you edit the shortcuts? Whenever I type “sec.” followed by a space, it automatically changes to “seconds.” It’s driving me crazy.

[...] A few days ago, my Treo 650 fell on to pavement and the antenna snapped off. I ordered a new short antenna from TreoAntenna.com but in the meantime, I’ve managed to get good reception by clipping an alligator clip with a short length of wire on to the point on the circuit board where the antenna connects. Originally, I had the other clip connected to the antenna itself, but it fell off and I realized that reception was just as good without it. [...]

[...] As previously mentioned, my Treo 650 antenna broke and for the past week I’ve been using it with an improvised antenna using an alligator clip. [...]

Loved reading through your site. Alot of great info. I have a question for you since you appear to be intelligent and experienced with “playing around” with the inner workings of the Treo Machine. I am not a rich person (yet) and I recently downloaded FileZ. Loved the program for resetting my VersaMail stuff, BUT… can I use this to delete RealOne Player and other UNWANTED’s from my Treo650? After all, the machine belongs to me, not Palm and every time I want to get rid of something, I get the frightening message: “Changing this setting can crash the device. Only change this if you know what you ae doing. Are you sure you want to change this?”
Well, I’m sure I want the program gone but I don’t need an expensive paperweight. Any experience with deleting things on the ROM of a Treo?
I would greatly appreciate a response.

P.S. Loooved your camera uses! Great for all Homeschoolers, such as myself! It’s become so useful, I couldn’t live without it and my Canon is gettin’ jealous :)

    KiSMoore,

FileZ unfortunately will not allow you to delete things from the ROM of your Treo. It’s a lot more complicated than that. There’s a lengthy process whereby you can create custom ROM images for a Treo and you can pick the programs you want.

    Here’s some links:

when i am clicking on the call log, my phone resets , and i can not reach the call log. is there a way how to delete the call log ,without seeing the call log screen ?

Not many problems until this morning (funny, my 90 day Palm warranty just expired).
Every time I touch the screen to hang up a call or touch the phone button I get a reset.
    Any ideas?

I did a hard reset and then synced my Palm without using the automatic backup. All is well now, but in all honesty, I had to do the hard reset several times before it worked. Kinda sucks since I have to redo some of the Treo’s prefs but the Loop Resetting is gone and it’s been worth it. Now I just go into my sync program and individually install wanted programs from my backup file instead of letting it all be done automatically. I’ve only been adding a few at a time, this way if it begins to happen again, I’ll know who the culprit is. Hope this helps. Sorry for the misspells…. been canoeing all day and very tired.
    Have a good one :)

    Hi,

How can I insert the @ symbol using my treo 650? Thanks!

Press the key that you use to toggle between numbers and letters (I think it’s the numbers key), then hit the @ key.

    To Barbara:

Use Autocorrect patch to prevent Treo from changing secs->seconds, i->I etc.
