After a false start with some crappy $10 modem that claimed to have caller id on the box, but I couldn’t get it to work, I finally got a chance to install the AOpen FM56-PX modem that I ordered a few days ago from Directron.
It installed without hassle in my Windows desktop and then YAC worked straight away. I called my home phone from my cell phone and got a nice little message at the bottom of the screen.
Then I went to Name Substitutions and made sure that it knew that 650-387-xxxx was “Marc’s cell”. Then I went to Listeners and entered the IP addresses of the other machines on my network, including both of my TiVos.
I got a Series 1 listener from the YAC page and I got a Series 2 listener from DealDatabase Forum. My wife was really impressed by the ability to see caller id on our TiVos – we don’t actually get a lot of calls but we do watch a heck of a lot of TiVo 🙂
Long time, no talk! Could you please detail how you got YAC to working with new Series 2 OSD. I’m afraid there’s not a lot of information on what goes where, what gets exported, path’d, etc. Thanks, Marc, and happy new year!
