Yesterday, my wife and I went to the Cingular store and finally got it all done. We’re on the $39.99 Family Plan with 450 anytime minutes, 5000 night & weekend, and unlimited mobile-to-mobile. I added the Unlimited MEdia Net option for $24.99 so that I can surf the web on my Treo 650. The rep tried to tell me that the experience would be “cropped” and that I should get the $44 PDA plan, but I didn’t buy it. Lots of folks on TreoCentral are using the MEdia Net plan just fine and the only problems seem to be with push mail like GoodLink and VPN. My wife got a Motorola V551 which she likes so far.
The bad news is that my Internet isn’t working yet on my Treo 650. I am getting voice but no GPRS coverage and when I attempt to connect, it says “Connecting…” and then “Cancelling” right away. I called Cingular and the rep walked me through all the settings for wap.cingular and it’s all good. So it looks like I’ll need to go to the store and see if they can figure out what the deal is.
Update 2005-05-14 10:24 PM – One phone call, Two Cingular stores, and 3 SIM cards later, I got the Internet working!
