Desktop hosed,

My Windows desktop at home, which has been flakey for a long time and has been getting increasingly flakey even after a transplant into a new Asus S-Presso case/mobo, finally bit it tonight.

On its last boot, programs were crashing everywhere and it logged me out and then the login screen became totally unresponsive. So I did a cold reboot and was greeted by this lovely screen.

Ergh.

Guess it’s time to do a Windows install.

Not a good technology week for me. Quick searches stopped working for me in Thunderbird on my PowerBook and my Treo has twice already spontaneously decided to call my wife at home while somehow managing to catch the entire thing including the phone ring on my voice mail.

Pen and paper is looking ever more attractive to me.
