IBM developerWorks has a nice article called Inside the Linux boot process that gives a nice high-level overview of the various stages of booting a Linux kernel from the BIOS to the MBR to GRUB to decompressing and loading the kernel image and initrd filesystem.
Good read, learned a lot I didn’t really know much about.
Hey, thanks for replying in my livejournal about my dapper problems.
I’m just wondering how you found the post?
I’ll try out your suggestions when I have a chance to hack on my system.
Thanks!
Hey Anonymous,
I ran across your post on Technorati, browsing through Linux stuff.
