I wish I could quit you, Treo

Treo 650, you crash on me all the time. And other times you just start acting up and refuse to send emails via VersaMail until I reboot you. None of my friends have phones that crash or need to rebooted – that is sooo Windows 98. Another reason I’m jealous of my friends’ phones – they can actually hear people on their phones. They don’t even need to download a volume-boosting program like VolumeCare or Phone Technician. Imagine that. I love your Bluetooth, but wish that it had a usable range of more than 6 inches. I love the fact that you have a keyboard but hate the fact that your right shift key is permanently stuck. I hate the fact that your battery mysteriously runs down to almost zero in my pocket. And that people call and complain and ask me why you call them at 3 in the morning when you’re in my pocket, even when KeyGuard is enabled.

And yet I can’t quit you because I love having a web browser in my pocket and I am addicted to Palm Sudoku with a 5-way navigator.

Sigh…

  1. I had a Treo 600 and it gave me ENDLESS amounts of trouble. When it stopped working even as a basic phone, that was the straw that broke the camels back.
I ended up getting a Sony Ericsson P910. I’m loving every minute of it 🙂
I even tried to sell the Treo 600 but i couldn’t bring myself to sell someone a piece of equipment that was giving me hell.

Granted its been a few months now since i have the p910 im starting to wonder what me new phone will be. Why do we tech ppl luv so much change?!?! sheesh

  2. I’ve got the PPC-6700. It’s Windows Mobile 2005. I can’t say that it’s bullet proof, as I have had to reboot it, but it sounds like an overall better experience than the Treo. My main pain is that sometimes jostling it out of power save mode requires far more effort than it should.

I’ll be trying out a bluetooth headset next week (fingers crossed).

  3. I gotta say my Treo 650 gives me few problems. Your unit sounds like it has problems.

Crashes and resets are rare (but yeah, I agree, phones shouldn’t crash.) My Bluetooth works many feet away. No stuck keys and I have never drained the battery.
