Rant: Why does Windows want to reinstall drivers for USB devices when I plug them into a different USB port?

It’s the same device! Why the big deal just because I used a different USB port? This is no small pain in the butt when I’m dealing with my Microsoft (haha!) Wireless keyboard and mouse, which seems to want to install 7 drivers (all with plenty of prompting) every time it sees it and doesn’t remember it.

  1. Yeah, that is pretty annoying, I don’t understand why it does that either, I mean, what’s the point of having to install the same drivers that are already installed? Vista does that as well, although doesn’t prompt as much as XP and it doesn’t get in the way with all it’s boxes and stuff.
