Vienna: Freeware RSS/Atom newsreader for OS X

Vienna is a freeware, open source RSS/Atom newsreader for the Mac OS X operating system. It provides features comparable to commercial newsreaders, but both it and the source code are freely available for download.

A nice little intro on Python’s urllib2 library, including how to use handlers and openers to do things like authentication and handling of proxies. I’ve been messing around a bit with the Python FUSE API so this was of interest to me.

PalmPDF

PalmPDF is a pretty impressive Palm program. It’s based on Xpdf and it allows you to view PDF files on a devices running Palm OS 5.x. Here’s a screenshot of me using it on my Treo 650:

    So what have we learned about LVM2? It’s insanely powerful and cool, but the pvmove command could really use some work, and getting the segment layout/map of everything is a bit of a pain to interpret. But with some care, cool things can be done.
