Well, the commute to work totally sucked today. I had planned to drive only to the nearby train station to catch the employee shuttle to work, but there was an accident on Highway 85 that really slowed things down and I ended up missing the shuttle and driving to work. Then there was another accident further up on Highway 85 and then general slowness on 87 and 101 (my attempt to circumvent the nastiness on 85). All in all, my commute ended up taking an hour and a half.
The silver lining is that I was going so slow most of the time that I was using a lot of the Prius’s motor and battery and relatively little engine or gas, resulting in a nice 64 miles per gallon over the 32 mile commute.
and I even had it at 66 MPG when I was at the 29 mile mark (the last few miles of this route were uphill):
