This iPhone game is no longer available on the App Store, and this page exists only as a historical record. Its successor, Lexitaire, is a from-scratch iOS and tvOS rebuild — now in beta.
Try LexitaireWordly is a simple, but addictive word game, inspired by Wordsmith on the TiVo® Series 3. This page describes the version for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
September 18, 2008 — launched on the App Store as Word Up!, after a nine-day approval wait.
Renamed to Word Nerd after a trademark request from Word Up Game (Skunk Studios).
June 9, 2010 — renamed again to Wordly after a trademark request from Word Nerd Language and Educational Services Ltd.
December 2011 — reviewed on findmysoft.com, which noted its Facebook and Twitter integration, online leaderboards, and companion Mac and Windows editions.
Tap letter tiles in the front row to build a word. Every word must be at least three letters long and appear in the built-in 178,691-word Tournament Word List.
Only the tiles in the front row are in play. Use one, and the tile behind it slides forward to take its place.
Tap Apply to lock in your word and add its score to your total. Apply only activates once you've formed a valid word.
Tap Undo to pull back the last tile you played.
A round ends automatically once no more words are possible on the board — or end it yourself anytime from Menu > New Game.
Each word's score is the sum of its letter values, multiplied by the word's length. Your game score is the total of every word you've played.
Crack the top ten and you'll be asked to add your name to the leaderboard.
Open Menu > Show Top Scores anytime to revisit past games — including every word played, with one-tap lookups in an online dictionary if you're connected.

Wordly takes its inspiration from Wordsmith on my TiVo® Series 3, created by Carl Haynes — thank you for a genuinely fun game and your blessing to release this one. Wordly borrows only the idea, not the code.
